THE FACTS ON AIR TRANSFER TECHNOLOGY
The principle of the HoverMatt® System is simple - the air from the small air supply will inflate the mattress with the patient on it. At the same time the air is supporting the patient, it is escaping from perforations in the underside and acting as a lubricant to make the transfer easy. That is how we are reducing back injuries. It requires 93% less force than a draw sheet and 90% less force than a Smooth Mover to move a patient. It is very similar to a hovercraft or an upside-down air hockey table. Whatever the patient is lying on to keep the bed clean can be placed on top of the HoverMatt® mattress to keep it clean. The transfer mattress can simply be wiped down between patients with whatever is currently being used on the stretcher, or if it really becomes soiled, it can be laundered. If a patient is immobile and/or obese, s/he can remain on the deflated HoverMatt® mattress in the bed. The HoverMatt® mattress does not compromise skin integrity.
